🏕🌞🏜✈️🌬🧘🏻‍♀️

🏠 I stayed at Can Mocamp, it’s a hostel.

💜 Really cute! Got upgraded to a bungalow.

🍽️ They served breakfast, included.

🚌 The town of Kaş was just about mile from the hostel, it took half an hour to walk but it was just far enough to really want a ride.

🏃🏻‍♀️I managed to flag down the dolmus once or twice.

👙 The town itself was really cute. Lots of fun stores to shop for souvenirs and beach resort clothes. I’d go again!

🍃 September was a quiet time on the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey, the tail end of summer. Still hot, but kids just getting back in school meant lower prices and less people. As a solo traveler, it was a bit lonely. Not many other travelers.

🌊 Planning to visit the Mediterranean coast of 🌊 Planning to visit the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye? Come to Kaş!

*Save this post!*

🛣️ It’s the perfect stop on a road trip between Fethiye and Antalya.

🏖️There are so many cute stores, romantic restaurants, and of course you can swim in the beautiful warm turquoise sea.

🛥️I did a day trip to Kekova Island on a boat with @captainergun - we visited 5 different areas to jump off the boat and relax in the water, and they included a grilled fish lunch which was so delicious!

🇹🇷 Definitely stop in Kaş on your visit to Türkiye!

🌿 Exploring Kayaköy ghost town 🌿 Kayaköy i 🌿 Exploring Kayaköy ghost town 🌿
Kayaköy is just a short 8 km (20-minute drive) from Fethiye. It’s a ghost town with a story etched into its crumbling stone walls. Once home to a thriving Greek Orthodox community, the village was abandoned during the population exchange of 1923, leaving behind the ruins of nearly 500 houses and other structures. 🏚️

✨ How to Get There:
From Fethiye, you can easily reach Kayaköy by car, scooter, or a dolmuş (minibus) that runs regularly from the city center.

🚶🏻‍♀️You can even get there on foot by hiking on part of the Lycian Way from Ölüdeniz

✨ What to Do:
* Wander through the deserted homes and marvel at the faded frescoes in the churches.
* Climb up to the hilltop for breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
* Immerse yourself in the poignant history of a place left behind, yet full of stories.

✨ Don’t Miss:
Right at the entrance, there’s a cozy restaurant where you can watch women hand-roll and cook fresh gözleme (traditional Turkish stuffed flatbread) on an open griddle.

🍴We got the spinach and cheese gözleme with soup, and of course Turkish tea. 🫖

🏛️🌿 Pinara Ruins 🏛️🌿 Nestled in th 🏛️🌿 Pinara Ruins 🏛️🌿
Nestled in the hills of Fethiye, Turkey, the ancient city of Pinara is known for its Lycian rock tombs carved into cliffs. It’s an off-the-beaten-path destination that offers a glimpse into ancient Lycian life

🚗 Pinara is about 45 km (28 miles) from Fethiye, roughly a 1-hour drive

🚶🏻‍♀️If you’re up for a challenge, you can also hike part of the Lycian Way to reach the ruins

🌟 Interesting Facts:
* Pinara means “round” in the Lycian language, named for the rounded shape of the acropolis.
* The site features hundreds of rock-cut tombs, including rare pigeon-hole tombs, a theater, and the remnants of a temple.
* This ancient city was part of the Lycian League, one of the first known examples of a democratic federation.
* Few visitors make it here compared to other Lycian sites, so you’ll likely have the ruins to yourself.

🎒 Pro Tips:
* Wear sturdy shoes; the terrain is rocky and uneven.
* Bring water and snacks, as there are no facilities on-site.
* The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and enjoy the golden hour views.

Have you been to Pinara or any other Lycian ruins?

📝 Side note: @onursjourney was chatting to this man in Turkish. He was cutting herbs to sell in the market. He gave us a bunch and I brought it with me on the rest of my trip. It was such a fruity, fragrant smell, so beautiful and so tasty as a tea. It brings me back to summertime in Türkiye.

🥰 On a personal note: One of my reasons for goi 🥰 On a personal note: One of my reasons for going to Turkey was to visit an old friend. I had gone on my first out of the country trip with her. She had moved to Turkey over ten years ago. Her son was born on my birthday. Her and her husband welcomed me with open arms, making sure I was fed, taking me on adventures, telling me all about the history of the area.

💕 Knowing people and having friends in an area when you are traveling can make all the difference.

A few moments of serenity for your feed today. A A few moments of serenity for your feed today.

And a personal update…

With so much happening, from the fires in Los Angeles to an extremely painful frozen shoulder, I’ve been taking a few days off posting. I’ve been in kind of a freeze state, which has actually been going on for the past year or so as I shift my boat around on a new trajectory of photography and writing. Although it’s not happening fast enough so I’m also back into more physical therapy.

I keep remembering my angels are watching over me, and whenever I remember to ask the parking gods (or any helpful angel) to help me find a space, (or whatever I need) they instantly reply.

How are you?

✨ Happy New Year! 🥂 Hello 2025! While I’m ✨ Happy New Year! 🥂 Hello 2025!

While I’m looking back at the year, I was getting so in my head about what to post, and wanting to show everything, and thinking “well it wasn’t that great of year”🫠 “I don’t want to look like a show off” 😣 and should I reveal my milestone birthday? 🙄

🥂 It’s been a year! I realize that there are many things to celebrate! And other things that have been challenging.

💯 There’s so much that didn’t make this highlight reel!

As humans, perspective is everything. We often overestimate what we can do, (hello over-planner 🙋🏻‍♀️) and underestimate what we have done (you mean this ole’ thing?)

👉🏼 If you’re seeing this, remember that there’s so much more to life than a highlight reel.

However you are, wherever you are, have an amazing year! May we all be blessed
